Crianlarich Hills – Trip Two

Date: 31/01/1998
Height: ?
Distance: ?
Grid: NN40902120 (Cruach Ardrain), NN41601960 (Beinn Tulaichean)
Companions: Dougie
Weather: Low cloud level (700m), dry, poor visibility (less than 50m).

From the small car park, just off the road, before the train station we headed over the rail bridge, up through the forest (very muddy). It was a hard, steep climb to get through the forest.
Headed up to Grey Height and then followed the ridge along. We went to the South of the summit and climbed steeply up the side through crags etc and then cut back East to the summit itself.

We mistakenly headed off to the North for a couple of hundred metres before recognising and then back-tracking South along a very craggy and undulating ridge to the summit of Beinn Tulaichean.

This was basically an out and back so we retraced our steps along the ridge towards Cruach Ardrain (although not via the summit) and then on towards Grey Height again.

Just before Grey Height we dropped North into the corrie and met a forestry path at the head of the forest, which we followed back to the car.

All in all, a great day out.
